Labor Day Weekend at the Lake of the Woods

Thursday morning we drove up with Megan’s mom’s family to Zippel Bay, just outside Baudette, Minnesota, on the Lake of the Woods. We returned on Labor Day after a very full weekend together.

And it was quite the trip to the woods with the 9-week old twins!

The Lake of the Woods is something else, by the way. It’s a massive lake shared by Minnesota and Canada with about 65,000 miles of shoreline. That’s right 65,000 miles—that crazy shoreline.

And even though the Lake of the Woods is only one of Minnesota’s “ten thousand lakes,” this one lake alone has over 14,000 islands! (That’s like 14 bottles of Thousand Island dressing!)

A big development in the last week is that the boys are outgrowing their newborn-sized outfits. (Cue both hurrays and sobbing.) Below is their last pic with Grandma Peg in her froggie outfits.

I’m going to miss those froggie outfits! Unbelievable how much Cole looks like you, David, in the last pic. These guys have grown so much even since our trip there!

  2. Grandma Jane says:

David, was your first walleye big enough to feed that whole crowd? Looks like a fun time for all. What a beautiful lake!

  3. Jaime Sherf says:

    Hey David!

I love the Lake of the Woods – my family actually owns two adjacent cabins about 10 miles down the shore from Zippel Bay! We love to walleye fish that lake! 🙂

The twins are beautiful, by the way!
