We had our four month check-ups today. Everything with the guys looked great!
Their pediatrician thinks they are right on track for 4 month olds, which is remarkable since they were 5 weeks early.
Throughout the past week David and I have said to each other several times, “These guys are just so different.” So, I wanted to do a little update individually for them today.
Who Is Coleman?
Cole weighed in at 12 pounds, 10 ounces today (finally putting him on the curve with full-term babies at the fifth percentile). He started at 4 pounds, 10 ounces. He’s now 23.2 inches (started at 18). His head measures into the 12 percentile! He has quite the noggin.
Appearance: He is growing faster and is getting to be a bit chubbier. His facial features are more petite, and he has very fair skin. His hair has red in it. He has long fingers. His thighs are finally filling out—very cute!
Temperament: This is probably the biggest difference between the boys. Cole is very even keeled. He smiled first, but it takes much more to get a grin out of him now. He doesn’t really get angry (at least not like his brother!). It is hard to take his cry seriously—it is just a series of grunts and groans and little whimpers.
Behaviors: Cole loves to snuggle. He has since the beginning. He does not like to be left alone. He has recently developed a much more difficult going to bed pattern. He keeps us on schedule. He has since the beginning, making sure we didn’t stretch our 3-hour feeding window those first few weeks! Cole is particular about feedings—he likes to nurse and has strong preferences when it comes to bottling. He sleeps more during the day, but usually does not make it as long at night. He likes being swaddled at night still, but sometimes needs an arm out. In the morning, he is the cutest stretching baby you have ever seen! Cole keeps an eye out for his brother. It seems as though he is always very aware of where he is in the room….we’re not sure if his brother returns the same concern yet.
Development: He has developed fine motor skills faster. He grabs toys and looks at them. He does not like tummy time! He grasps his hands together.
Here are some favorite Cole pics that have not made the blog yet (I don’t think)…
